Enrollment Checklist


Welcome home Bears. We are excited you chose Lenoir-Rhyne University.

View the academic calendar, and mark your agenda for the first day of classes for the spring semester.

Use the enrollment checklist below to complete the required steps before joining us on campus this fall. You can also find this information, along with additional details in your application portal. If you have any questions, please contact the Admission Office at 828.328.7382 or admission@lr.edu.

  • Verify your LR account information and set your password

    Before you are able to complete any other enrollment steps, you must first verify your LR student account. Your account letter and verification instructions are sent via email and can also be found in your application portal beginning in April. Read them carefully and follow all steps. If you have not received your instructions, please contact us at admission@lr.edu.

  • Complete all financial steps
    1. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using LR’s code 002941
    2. Review your financial aid award letter with your enrollment counselor
    3. Make final decisions about loans and payment plans
    4. Review student billing statement and make first payment

  • Complete New Student Orientation

    Orientation is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students. For additional information and to register for Orientation, refer to the link below.

  • Complete necessary forms

    All students must complete the FERPA student disclosure form, the Federal Student Financial Aid Cash Management Authorization (Title IV) form, the LR Housing form and the Immunization Record Form. All of these forms can be found on the forms checklist in your application portal, along with additional details on how to submit them.

  • Send all final enrollment documents to Admission

    First-year students should submit final, official high school transcripts two weeks prior to Orientation.
     
    If applicable, first-year students should also submit:

    • Final, official college transcripts to receive transfer credit for completed college-level courses or AA/AS degrees.
    • Advanced Placement (AP) and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores to be considered for placement.

    Transfer students should submit final, official high school (if 29 or less college credits were completed post-graduation) and final, official college transcripts two weeks prior to Orientation.
     
    *Please note: If documentation is not received by the deadline, financial aid and the ability to register for courses may be impacted.

  • Student ID and parking permit

    Your LR student ID and parking permit will be completed during The Charge: New Student Orientation.

    Step-by-step online instructions are provided to apply for a parking permit. This is required for commuting students and options for residential students.

    Items Not Allowed in Residence Hall Rooms
    • Cooking equipment with an exposed heating coil or which does not shut off automatically (toaster ovens, hot plates, woks, steam cookers, deep fryers, electric skillets, gas or charcoal grills, etc.)
    • Halogen lamps, Electric heaters, Candles and incense
    • Extension cords and multi-plug extenders/outlets
    • Answering machines and Caller ID machines (voice mail is provided by Lenoir-Rhyne)
    • Ceiling fans
    • Weapons of any kind including handguns, rifles, shotguns, firearms, knives, darts, archery equipment, B-B guns, fireworks, etc.
    • Animals or pets (fish are the only animals allowed in student rooms)
    • Aquariums over 10 gallons
    • Alcoholic beverages for students under 21 years of age, illegal substances or paraphernalia
    • Irreplaceable personal Items or items of great value
    Decorating - Hall and Room
    • Students may decorate room in any way that does not permanently alter the room. Students are not permitted to dismantle any University furniture, attach anything permanently to the walls, ceiling, or doors (including lofts, bunk beds, bookcases, wallpaper, and glued corkboards), paint walls or baseboards, trim furnishings, doors or anything metal, or install wallpaper, wallpaper borders or contact paper on walls or fixtures within the room.
    • Large cloth objects (fishnet, parachutes, flags, etc.) and posters are not permitted to be hung from or across the ceiling for fire safety reasons.
    • Double-sided foam mounting tape is prohibited due to ensuing damage to walls and doors.
    • Students cannot hang anything from ceiling pipes or electrical conduits.
    • A fine may be assessed if a room contains an extreme number of nail holes, tape scars, cracked plaster, etc. from mounting posters, plaques, pictures, etc. on the wall.
    • Wood paneling, bookshelves, etc. may not be attached to room walls.
    • Small string white lights that are non-heat producing may be used in a room or around an individual doorway. Do not string lights up and down the entire hall. Larger string lights that produce heat are not allowed.
    • Room doors may be decorated but room numbers must remain visible. Exit lights and fire extinguishers must always remain visible.
    • Fire doors must remain free of paper and any obstruction at all times.
    • Nothing may be hung from or in the way of fire alarm equipment.
    • Nothing may be hung outside of the window in a resident's room.
    • No live or previously live greenery (Christmas trees, garland, etc.) except regular house plants are allowed in either rooms or lobbies.
    • Decorations in common areas as well as in resident rooms must not interfere with emergency exiting at any time.
  • Familiarize yourself with what residential services are provided

    From laundry to satellite TV, computer ports and telephone service, familiarize yourself with what residential services are provided. Read through our frequently asked questions to find answers to your questions before you arrive on campus.
