LR welcomes new AVP for digital strategy


Lenoir-Rhyne University announces the appointment of Doug Minor as associate vice president for digital strategy.

An award-winning and seasoned leader in higher education marketing and communications, Minor most recently served as senior director of digital strategy at Queens University of Charlotte.

Minor started his role Aug. 26 and will lead the University's marketing and communication efforts, which connect Lenoir-Rhyne with various audiences through an integrated and expanding platform of digital and social media channels, digital marketing, and media relations. His primary focus is to create and implement a comprehensive digital strategy that elevates the University brand to support the strategic plan for enrollment growth, student retention, alumni and donor engagement, and tell the LR story in a compelling way.

"Doug has a combination of talent, skill, and strategy that is relevant as the University continues to advance its brand and integrate its strategy to extend the reach and performance of the University."

Prior to his role at Queens University of Charlotte, Minor worked as director of digital communications at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. He directed the award-winning redesign, rebranding and digital strategy for Davidson's website and social media presence. Under his leadership at Davidson, the college received a national Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and four awards from CASE District III. These awards recognized the innovative use of digital communications and video in student recruitment, advancement communications, and social media strategy, among other areas.

Minor worked 12 years at both Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire. At Saint Anselm, he directed the college's digital efforts and was recognized with multiple CASE District I and Telly Awards for institutional digital communications and video projects.

"I am thrilled to join Lenoir-Rhyne at such a pivotal moment for the institution," Minor said. "President Whitt, the senior leadership team and the campus community have done a wonderful job in articulating the way forward for the University through the recent strategic plan. LR is clearly a University on the move and I look forward to working with the campus community to raise the visibility and profile of the University as a recognized leader in higher education in North Carolina and beyond."

Minor has a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire. He and his wife, Charlene, are raising two girls ages 12 and 14.
